Gilda’s
Club Rochester Bone Marrow Drive
When your friend got cancer, you said: “if there’s anything I
can ever do…” Now there is. You can become a potential bone marrow
or stem cell donor by joining the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) registry.
By taking 20 minutes out of your day, you may be able to save someone’s
life- in fact, your unique biological traits may make you someone’s
only chance to live.
There is no cost to being a donor and the process is very simple. When you
donate at a marrow drive, you will fill out some paperwork
encompassing your contact information and some basic health history (all
information
will be kept strictly confidential by the NMDP). Then a Bucchal Swab test
will be used to collect some cells from your cheek. That’s all.

~ Recent History ~
The first Bone Marrow Drive sponsored by Steve Stello and the members of
Gilda’s Club took place in 2003 with 65 participants. One of these participants
was found to be a match for someone in need. The Drive in 2004 added 15 new
members to the Bone Marrow Registry.
On Saturday, December 10, 2005, Steve and Lee Stello along with support from
Marrow Drive Rochester welcomed 113 individuals who added their names to the
registry! We are looking forward to your participation at our 2006 Bone Marrow
Donor Registry Drive.
