Volunteers are an integral part of what makes Gilda’s Club Rochester such an important place for people who have been impacted by cancer. We depend on their energy and enthusiasm to help our Clubhouse run smoothly.

There are a wide range of opportunities for people to contribute their time and skills to Gilda’s Club Rochester. Here are some examples:

  • Mental Health Professionals
    • Support Group facilitation
    • Help create a one-year plan of action for members to receive social and emotional support along with their family and friends.
    • New member meetings are held at Gilda’s Club on a regular basis to introduce prospective members to the Gilda’s Club philosophy, program, and Clubhouse. By co-facilitating these meetings, you help new members learn about our programs and understand our mission.
    • Present or facilitate a lecture or workshop at the Clubhouse that covers a topic of interest to people touched by cancer. Provide members with the opportunity to acquire new skills, tools, information, and/or techniques. Through these workshops and lectures, members build social and emotional support together by sharing in a variety of activities over time that then strengthens the Gilda’s Club community as whole.
  • Noogieland Team
    • Provide a warm, supportive, and comfortable play environment that fills important psychosocial needs of children touched by cancer by engaging in interactive play and supervision.
    • Help coordinate and execute family social events and Noogiefest, the annual children’s Halloween party.
