March 2010: Calendar Highlights
SOCIAL EVENTS
St. Patrick’s Day Party, Thursday, March 11th - The whole family is invited to our annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner. There will be music, laughter and crafts (for the kids).
Scrabble Day, Friday, March 19th - Do you love to play Scrabble? We’ll have a day of activities related to the Scrabble Game: Initial Pin made from Scrabble letters, light lunch (“Scrabbled” Eggs or Alphabet soup?), ending with a fun game of Scrabble.
Dinner & a Movie (for adults), Friday, March 26th - “Ice Age, Dawn of the Dinosaurs” is the movie; we’ll be dining on “Tyrannosaurus Rex” (tastes a lot like chicken!)
Spring Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 27th - Bring the whole family for brunch, crafts and enjoy watching the children win prizes during an egg hunt.

Colorectal Cancer, Tuesday, March 2nd - Dr. John Monson & Dr. Aram Hezei from Wilmot Cancer Center will provide the newest information on colorectal cancer and answer your questions.
Sleep from A thru Zzzz, Thursday, March 25th - Do you have trouble sleeping? Cheryl Minchella from MVP will give you tips on how to get a good night’s rest.
WORKSHOPS
Series for Children & Teens: How to have an Awesome Attitude! 4 Mondays starting March 8th -This Series will develop skills in meditation, communication and confidence. RSVP
Book Club, Monday, March 15th - Call clubhouse for title of the book to be read.
Gilda’s “Food Network” Cooking Class, Thursday, March 18th -From the show
Melissa d’ Arabian’s $10 Dinners, “Chef” Mary and the participants will replicate one of Melissa’s $10 meals. RSVP

Kids ‘N “Krafts, Fridays - Bring the kids along to Noogieland and we’ll have some craft materials out for you to play with your child.

Gentle Yoga, Tuesdays - with Barb Silverstein
Gentle Exercise with YMCA, Thursdays - Developed by YMCA trainers specifically for members of Gilda’s Club.
ART CLASSES
Open Art, Wednesday, March 3rd & Thursday March 4th - The art room will be open and Annette available to help you work on any kind of craft project you feel inspired to create.
Collage Your Life, Tuesday, March 9th – You can create a memorable piece of art showcasing your life, your loves, dreams, etc. Bring along copies of photos you might want to put in the collage. There will be magazines and some other really cool materials available to make your creation one of a kind.
Knitting for a Cause, Thursday, March 11th – Join in with other members to create shawls, etc. for Kirkhaven nursing home. We’ll provide the yarn and even give you lessons if you are a beginner!
Button Pins, Friday, March 12th – Using old buttons and some beads these pins are fun to create and always elicit wonderful compliments. We’ll have all the supplies you need.
Acrylic/Decorative Painting, Tuesday, March 16th – Canvas and wooden items will be available for you to paint on. No previous experience necessary. We’ll have stencils if you want to use those and help if you want to try free hand painting.
“Zentangle”, Tuesday, March 23rd - “Zentangle” is a meditative form of art utilizing patterns to create a one of a kind image. It’s like doodling, only better! This is for beginners and veteran artists. With a couple of simple steps to start you off you’re on your way to exploring all those creative juices you have inside you. The finished product is easily framable so you can show it off right away. Warning: “Zentangle” can be habit forming!
Spring Cards, Thursday, March 25th – Shake off Winter and make some pretty spring cards to send to family and friends. No experience necessary and there will be samples to work from.
Jewelry, Monday, March 29th - There are plenty of lovely glass beads and findings for you to create something unique. Beginners and advanced “beaders” welcome.
